And the next baby is officially...

A BOY!!

Boyboyboyboyboyboyboyboyboyboy!

My son Hudson is pretty excited because, in his own words, "I need another boy to talk to in this house." Ha! I guess Abby and I don't provide enough boyish entertainment during the day.

So, I'm sure you can guess the first thing I did when I got home from the ultrasound? Jumped online to pick out some inspiration prints for all the baby items I'm going to make! Baby blanket, burp cloths, some little clothes, balls, playmat. Oh my, the list could go on and on.

Anywhoo.  I thought I'd share with you some of my inspirations for our new little guy's decor. In his honor I'd like to start stocking some of these prints in my shop by the end of the summer. It's a great excuse to branch out into organic cottons. :)

First up, my central inspiration is this Avalon print called "His Cruisers," by Jay-Cyn for Birch Fabrics. Unbelievable cuteness without being "cutsie.":

And here are two more coordinating prints from the same line:

I can't help but throw in this AWESOME print from Echino's Nico Spring 2011 line:

And lastly, since I have this fantastic print in my shop, I can't forget to add Alexander Henry's 2D Zoo in Pool:

Clearly, you can see my colors are blue and green. But don't you think they are a special blue and green?   :)

I also think this is a really cute idea for a blanket or play mat (see pic below). There's a great tutorial here on how to make your own customized baby mat with fabric from Spoonflower. In case you haven't heard of it yet, Spoonflower is a site where you can upload your own designs and print them onto fabric. Yeah. Amazing, huh?! I'd like to try it out and maybe this is my chance. Baby Boy Murphy might need one of these:

Overall, I'm getting pretty excited. Can you tell? The way I channel my excitement is through making things, so it's shaping up to be a pretty fun and busy summer!  Don't be surprised if you see lots of pics up here of the things I'm making.

If you'd like to see more of my boy inspirations and you're a member of Pinterest, check out my board called "Preparing for the BOY." I'm pinning lots of cute stuff there!

Now my husband and I just need a great great name for our baby boy. Hmmm...  I'll keep you posted on that.

Thanks for reading, friends!

New Fabric in the Shop

I'm excited to announce that I have four new prints in the shop!  First up, the popular 2D Zoo prints by Alexander Henry are back in Chocolate and Pool. I'm so glad they decided to reprint them; these guys sold out really quickly last time:

Left: 2D Zoo in Pool, Right: 2D Zoo in Chocolate
Next up is a darling little bird print called Starling in Pink. I think this would make an adorable comforter for a little girl's bed, or perhaps another beautiful summer dress?

And finally... I am so excited about this... I got my hands on another bolt of this next, absolutely gorgeous print. The amazing thing is, this fabric is Out Of Print (OOP) and VERY Hard To Find (HTF). The guy who helped me with my order today found the last remaining bolt of it in a corner. Seriously. It was meant to be. I should tell you that I said a prayer this morning that a stray bolt would somehow be lying around for me. Yeah, amazing. :)

This is the most beautiful fabric I have in stock. The higher thread count gives it a luxurious texture, and just in case you can't understand what all the fuss is about, check out my daughter in the pictures below.

Without further ado, I present to you Alexander Henry's Brooke Poppies in Pink:

See??? Isn't that just the most gorgeous fabric (and the most gorgeous girl)? And the very last shipment of it from the manufacturer is available here in my shop! Today was a really nice day. :)

My last bit of fun news for the day is that these Heather Ross prints will be arriving later this summer:

I can't wait to get my hands (and my sewing machine!) on these prints. I'll keep you posted when they arrive!

Hope you all have a great friday, and thanks for reading!

A Teaser and a Winner!

First of all...

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING SO ADORABLE IN YOUR LIFE?!

I just can't get over my daughter in this new little butterfly dress. This pic is just a teaser, because I have a VERY fun announcement to make sometime in the next week.

But until then, this picture will have to suffice. ;)

On to more fun news. To celebrate my 30th birthday (which was today, eeeee!!) I have an announcement:

We have a winner from this weekend's drawing! Thank you, Cindy, for sharing your favorite fabrics from Heather Ross's new line, Far Far Away III.

You and I have the same two favorites!

I hope to have those and some others in stock later this summer:

Many thanks to all of you who have continued to check my blog, even after my long absence. I appreciate it! :)

New Fabric and a Chance to WIN!

Read to the end for a chance to win a 1/2 yard cut of fabric from my shop!

QUICK UPDATE: Hello everyone! It's kind of embarrassing that I've been gone for the blog for so long, but I have a good reason. Sort of. :)

About five months ago I found out that I am pregnant again (!!!) and started in on that uncomfortable first trimester. I took a break from working (freelance writing and my shop) and started creating the kind of home and family life where a third child can be welcomed and enjoyed. It's been going really well so far.

Now that life is in order and my pregnancy is half-way over, I'm easing back into the fabric and sewing world. For the past month, fabric has been available on my site--some really great Alexander Henry pieces that are mostly out of print and hard to find. I wasn't sure how this whole fabric-selling-thing would go, but I've been pleasantly surprised! I've sold enough to begin looking for ways to expand.

I'd like to get your opinion. The long-awaited Far Far Away III line by Heather Ross (through Kokka) will be available later this summer and I'm considering which prints to buy. I used a number of her prints from Far Far Away II to make these adorable little purses last summer:

YOUR CHANCE TO WIN: The new Heather Ross line has a number of beautiful prints, but my favorites are below. If you would like to be entered to win a 1/2 yard cut of one of the fabrics from my shop, please:

1. Leave a comment on this post and tell me your 2 favorite prints listed below
2. Tweet the link to this post, come back here and leave another comment saying you posted to Twitter;

BONUS ROUND:
5. If you are also a past customer of mine, or if you purchase something from my shop before 11:59pm on Sunday, June 19th, come back and leave another comment here to have your name entered two additional times.

This means that any person who does all five of these has the chance to have his or her name entered to win six times. Those are pretty good odds, depending on how many people comment on this post!

***COMMENTS WILL BE CLOSED AT 11:59 PM (PST) ON SUNDAY NIGHT, JUNE 19TH***

Thanks for playing!
